How can I return my electrical goods?

Okay, so I bought a Samsung MiniDV VP-D381

camcorder a while back from Argos, a local retailer in the UK back in May. However, the tape compartment has failed. The door itself opens, and the camera tells me that it is ejecting the tape. However, the problem is that the tape compartment does not pop out so I cannot load and unload tapes into it. It’s failed completely – not jammed – as there is no whirring from the compartment.

However here is the Catch 22 – I believe I have lost the receipt for the camcorder as I cannot seem to find it. It is still under it’s one year warrenty, but the only proof of purchase is the catalogue product number which I used to purchase the item. All of the accessories have been found and stored away in the box.

Anyone have any suggestions on what i can do about it?

Okay heres what you are going to do…
First you are going to look REALLY REALLY well for your receipt. If you still can not find it anywhere, then you will have to go back to the place where you bought your cam from. Try to speak with the same person who sold it for you, and explain him what happened, and that you lost your receipt. If s/he remembered you, and understood what happened they might change/fix/return it for you. If you couldnt find the same person who did so, u can talk to the manager, it might work.
If they took your name and ID No. when you bought the cam, as so many retailing shops do nowadays, then just bring your ID along with you, it will defenitely work.
Good luck with this whole thing, I really hate when that happens!

First I was Having Gray lines on playback, Then they turned Pink, Now I have nothing on playback just Blue screen and no audio, Maybe I cleaned it to many times? Wish my camcorder had a reset switch or something. I have a Samsung SC-D363 MiniDv Camcorder. Any Suggestions? What might help?? Don’t have money to bring it in. I tried everything from.. Taking battery out, 4 different tapes, Cleaning it 5 times what else can I do? Help
I have Been to all the Samsung Support pages ever made. Even tried to look for A Repair, service Manual for it.

I assume you have tried to clean the camera with a head cleaning tape.
If not try a an official head cleaning tape. If you don’t have one of those tapes try going to an area of the tape where there is no recording and record over it for 10 seconds or so. Then try you previous recording and try to view and difference, If that doesn’t work try putting the camera in playback mode push the play button and then run the camera in the rewind. In other words while the tape head is spinning put the camera in rewind. Your playback heads are clogged.
If and when you do get it fixed always use the same tape (do not switch between tape brands) and don’t use the same tape more than 3 times. Do not use this tape anymore that had clogged your camera heads. Always use your camera in the SP speed (fastest speed) not the slowest speed. ….Tom G ….bravotom@yahoo.com

I have a question about camcorders?

I used to have a Samsung SC-DX103 and I recorded some mini dvds at my cousins and he lives pretty far away from me. The thing is that i forgot to finalize the dvds i recorded and i left my camcorder with my cousin. Now other camcorders wont let me finalize those dvds and i cannot play them on anything with out finalizing them. My question is that if i buy the same exact camera as the one i had will i be able to play them on that and will i be able to finalize the dvds on it since they are the exact same?

the answer is no. the original camcorder has internal memory where it records essential file information that is needed for the finalization process. a DVD can only be finalized in the very same camera that recorded it. miniDVDs are small, it won’t cost much to send them back to your cousin and get them finalized. the camera remembers the serial number of the DVDs so it should still be capable of finalizing.
